Benefits of Lactation Consultant Certification

Free On-Demand Webinar

The benefits of breastfeeding are well documented. Breast milk provides the most complete form of nutrition for infants. Nursing professionals educate and advocate for breastfeeding to meet the nutritional needs during infancy. Join Dr. Brown, a Walden Faculty member and RN clinician focusing on maternal child health, in a discussion of the benefits of Lactation Consultant certification (i.e., IBCLC Certification). Lactation Consultants provide evidence-based information to educate and support mothers in initiating and continuing breastfeeding. They can also help avert breastfeeding difficulties by identifying potential problems and offering solutions before they elevate to crisis-level. This webinar will discuss the importance of lactation education in baby friendly hospitals, and will explore the scope, practice settings, and role of the Lactation Consultant as a key participant on the health care team. Participants will come away from this presentation with knowledge of the benefits of nurse lactation consultants for infant/family health outcomes, the nurse, and the organization/ community. Additionally, they will learn the first steps in developing a personal or organizational plan to support lactation consultant certification. In addition, you will earn 1 hour of nursing continuing professional development credit for attending this webinar on the benefits of lactation consultant certification.
