Walden University will release a refund if credit remains on your account after a payment, financial aid disbursement, or university credit has been applied. We are required by law to automatically send you any credit balance via your selected refund option. You have the option to have your refund released by direct deposit to a checking or savings account or by paper check. 

To update your refund delivery method

  1. Log into your myWalden portal.
  2. Locate the Finances section from the left navigation menu.
  3. Under the Finances section, click the Manage Your Refund link.

  1. Sign into RefundSelect (see below for credential set-up steps)
  2. Follow the prompts to select your preferred refund method.

Refunds are released 14 calendar days after your loan disbursement posts to your Walden account. You can find your financial aid disbursement date on the email sent by the Financial Aid Office or by going to your Financial Aid account.

 

To set up your RefundSelect credentials

You should have already received an email from Heartland Educational Computer System, Inc. (ECSI) either on April 8th 2025, or upon enrollment with Walden which contains a personalized Heartland Key. To set up your RefundSelect credentials, you will need the Heartland Key.

  1. Visit my.walden.edu and log in with your student ID and password. 
  2. Select the “Manage Your Refund” link. 
  3. You will be routed to ECSI. 
  4. From there, navigate to the “Register” section. 
  5. Create a username and password for your account. 
  6. Once you create an account, sign in. 
  7. Select “Connect an Account.” 
  8. Enter your Heartland Key when prompted and follow the additional prompts.
