What will happen if I have to withdraw from a class?

Dropping a class more than 7 days after the start date may impact your financial aid and result in an account balance you must repay.

There are two ways your financial aid may be impacted:

1. You will receive a "W" grade, which will affect your overall completion rate. Please remember that you must maintain a 67% overall completion rate of all attempted credits at Walden to be eligible for financial aid.

2. Your account will have to be reviewed for what is called "Return of Title IV Funding." If you drop a class that was paid with financial aid, the participation percentage in the term will be reviewed automatically. If the percentage is less than 60%, a portion of the financial aid that you received will have to be sent back to the lender. This could create a balance on your account, which you are responsible for paying back to the school.

Please note:

  • We are unable to predetermine what your account balance may be.

  • Please allow up to 45 days for your account to be reviewed.
