The Doctoral Writing Assessment is a Walden University requirement for all doctoral students. Expectations of writing become more rigorous as students advance from one degree to the next. Accordingly, you will need stronger writing skills to succeed in your doctoral program than you needed in previous programs. The assessment is required so the university can provide instructional support to help students strengthen their writing skills as early as possible in their doctoral programs. By applying improved writing strategies and practicing them throughout their courses, students can develop stronger writing skills and habits before they reach the capstone or dissertation stage of their programs.
