Although the (digital object identifier) DOI number may appear in a variety of formats in an article or metadata record, use just the hyperlink format for reference list entries. The DOI number should begin with “https://doi.org/” and continue with the number. Here is an example:

https://doi.org/10.1016/j.mayocp.2018.08.037

The text formatting for DOIs and other hyperlinks can follow Microsoft Word’s default, blue text and underlining. It is also acceptable to present the hyperlink in plain black text. However, be consistent in formatting for all DOIs and hyperlinks throughout the reference list. Furthermore, APA 7 recommends using the active hyperlink for all documents meant for screen reading (rather than printed on paper), which applies to all Walden coursework and doctoral capstone drafts.
