Effective May 1, 2015 nursing students who plan to complete practicums in Michigan (MI), Minnesota (MN), Ohio (OH), and Texas (TX) will be required to utilize to complete their background screening requirements

If you are a student planning to engage in a practicum course starting August 31, 2015 or thereafter whose practicum will take place in these states, you will not be permitted to start your practicum until your background screenings have been processed by Certified Background. In other states, this background screening service is strongly recommended and can also be used to satisfy background screening requirements mandated by healthcare systems and practicum sites. You can find more information about this requirement here.

Walden University does not require students in all other states to complete background checks or immunization verifications. However, we recommend consulting with your intended field site to determine if they will require one. If so, Walden University has partnered with Certified Background Check as a service to provide those students whose field sites require a background check or drug screen, which do not already have one on file with a different agency that their field site is willing to accept.
