Students must carry professional liability insurance with the minimum coverage of 1 million/3 million while engaged in the practicum experience. This coverage is in addition to coverage provided by your employer and must be student coverage.

  • Education, Leadership & Management, Informatics and Doctor of Nursing Practice students must have RN student or RN insurance coverage.

  • Nurse practitioner students must show coverage as a “Nurse Practitioner Student”: Students may have to contact their insurance company and get this updated on the certificate. Some companies will provide a separate letter indicating that the student is covered as a nurse practitioner student.

For more information about your nursing practicum, please refer to your practicum manual or contact the Nurse Field Training Office.
