Blackboard is designed to time students out after a period of inactivity. If you will be working for a long time, it is good to move around within your course so that the system “remembers” that you are still there. It is suggested that you compose your work in a word-processing program (preferably Word), and copy and paste it into the Discussion area when you are ready to submit it.
Some instructors count time in the classroom toward their calculation of student grades, and this time out feature helps to prevent students from logging time when they are not actually working. Most Internet service providers also have time-out rules, so you will want to check with your ISP to see how long you can be in one spot without navigating to another location.
