The time that you are on an approved leave of absence does not count against the year that you have to complete your required writing support course(s). However, the year also does not start over when you return from an approved leave of absence. For example, if you took your DRWA 8000G Doctoral Writing Assessment class during the first start of the fall 2016 semester, started a leave of absence during the start of the summer semester of 2017, and returned to classes for the first start of the fall semester of 2017, you would have until the end of spring semester 2018 to complete your required writing support course(s).
