Follow the steps below to schedule a doctoral research appointment with a librarian in your subject area:

  1. Start on the Library's homepage.
  2. In the upper right, Click on Ask a Librarian.
  3. Click on Doctoral Research Appointment
  4. Read the guidelines.
  5. Click on the Doctoral Research Appointment Calendar link.

Note: Previously you had to select your college or school and click on the link.
  6. Click on the dates on the calendar to see and select an available time. You can also click on a librarian's name to see appointments available for that librarian.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Fill in the form and click Confirm Appointment

Please Note:

  • Do not send your prospectus. The Librarian needs to know what specific search needs you have, and specific problems you have encountered in your searching.
  • Appointment times for the upcoming month become available the last week of the current month.
  • A confirmation email will be sent to your Walden email address.

Librarians can help:

  • determine appropriate databases
  • brainstorm the most effective keywords to use
  • learn search strategies to help you get the best results
  • learn about techniques to organize your research
  • locate theories or theorists

Librarians are not able to:

  • select articles for you to use in your capstone
  • assist with APA style, or with writing or editing of documents
  • determine whether your research topic is "good" or "bad"
  • assist with applying your methodology to your research
