Students may see DOI numbers written in two different formats. One format includes the letters doi and the number alone, and the other is a URL form.
In May 2012, the American Psychological Association released a PDF-based update to its style guide, which included a new way of formatting DOIs for electronic references. (The new formatting replaces a listing such as doi:10.1037/rmh0000008 with a URL: http://dx.doi.org/10.1037/rmh0000008). Walden’s CAO announced at that time that Walden would not require these changes. Students who choose the updated format, however, should not be penalized.
